She wears all black… that Pagean. He wears baggy clothes… he’s a thug. He goes to church so he must be holy. HOW ABOUT YOU JUST STOP and get to know someone?! Just because someone wears black, does not mean they’re Pagean or goth… maybe they’re self conscious about their weight. Baggy clothes… maybe that’s what they find comfortable. And just because someone goes to church, does not make them holy. If fact, NO ONE is holy but Christ, so you can just get rid of that label all together! Most of the time when you say these things about people, you don’t know the first thing about them! Next time you call someone a cow because they’re overweight, think about how you would feel if someone said that about someone you love? If you said that about my fiancé or mom, I’d be pretty upset.

Everyone of us was create in the image of Christ, so when you say someone is a goth, thug, whore, stupid… you are saying that your God is a goth, thug, whore, stupid, etc. Think on that the next time you start throwing these labels, think about the effect it will have on that person. And do everyone a favor, get to know them… and like my mom always said, if you don’t have anything nice to say… Don’t say anything at all.

It’s official! At 11:30 AM this morning in Central Park! After about a 2.5 hour stroll through the park, I finally got on one knee and popped the big question! So happy I did! I can’t wait to spend a weekend with you next month just us to escape reality for a little bit and just hang out and have fun without having to worry about work, school, and life in general!

This post is a little different than others.. it’s not funny, it’s not a shoutout, this is serious. Lately, if I’m being completely honest, I have been slacking! Slacking physically and spiritually. Now I know that you’re thinking “you’re a one of the youth directors… how are you leading teens if you aren’t in the word?” It’s not that I’m not reading my Bible and spending time with Christ… I just need to take it to the next level! Need to step up my game some.

Also, I have been slacking physically… and honestly, it is kind of pathetic. I have been heavy and unhealthy… and I hated it, so why would I be on my way back to that again?! You got me. Lately, I haven’t been pushing myself at the gym… I’ve been going, but I’ve been lazy. Also, my eating habits have been suffering lately as well.

With both of these said, I’m asking for everyone’s assistance. I am working on myself to have more willpower and determination, but a little help along the way is never a bad thing.

4. I have the most amazing parents anyone could ask for.
5. I have an internship (that is going to turn into a job) at the #1 place to work in Delaware.

Always take time to count your blessings. And when you have a rough day… Always remember someone has it worse that one.

Have you ever felt really accomplished after achieving a goal? After Bike to the Bay 2012, I don’t think I’d ever been so proud of myself… I rode 75 miles for a cause that so many of my friends have to deal day in and day out. Such an amazing feeling!

Now I need to be on the lookout for rides for heart disease and/or cancer… Specifically pancreatic cancer! Miss you Willis T. Alger SR & Caroline K. Alger!

My grandfather is such a trooper and inspiration. For over 8 months, he has been battling against many injuries that occurred from a heart attack. After his heart attack in January of this year, his heart was only operating at 20%. Since then, he has not been out of the hospital for much more than 2 weeks. He has fought harder than I have ever seen. A little over a week ago, he went back into the hospital due to a failing liver and kidneys. I went down to see him after this occurrence because you never really know what is going to happen.

When I arrived, I went straight to see him at 1:00 AM and did his face get the biggest smile on it. My grandfather’s smile was worth the whole trip. Never once have I ever hung up the phone with him and not hear him tell me that he loves me. My grandfather meant a lot more to me than just a grandfather; he was also a friend. A friend that was there for me whenever I needed it. Whenever I needed someone that I knew wouldn’t let me down, he was at the top of my list. He has shown me what it meant to work hard. My grandfather always worked hard, even in retirement… and never once did you ever hear him complain. He also was a man of his word. If he told you that he was going to do something, he was doing it… no questions asked. I am glad to say that I have gotten both of these traits from him. All of the things my grandfather has taught me will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Grandpa, you have shown a boy how to be a man. A man that provides, a man that is there for his family, a man that never gives up, and a man that fights for what’s right… I don’t think I could’ve had a better role model in my life. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and taught me!

Next, thank you Omi for being that strong woman that you are. They always say that behind every woman is a stronger woman. No one could ever take the place of my grandmother, but you sure did a great job at being another grandmother. When my grandmother passed away 5 years ago, you were there for my grandpa and you stayed there for him. I still sincerely believe that he would not still be here if it wasn’t for you. You always kept him motivated and driven. We all know he isn’t the easiest person to deal with… he is an Alger, but you did a fine job! Even after he is gone, please know that you are still an Alger in my book!

On a more personal note, my dad has always been there for me. No matter what the circumstance, I know I could always reach out to my dad. Growing up, I wish he lived a little bit closer. I wish we could played catch together or have him go on field trips with me, but the bottom line is… that didn’t happen. And what are you going to do, you can’t go back and change things. And by me saying that, I’m not dogging on my dad or saying that he just left; but what I am saying is that he taught my discipline. My father showed me what it meant to own up to your actions.

Also, he greatly demonstrated what it means to provide for your family. Growing up, he always made sure there was food on the table when he was married to my mom, then to my stepmom. There was never a missed meal even in the rough times. As a father, mine is the best. My father would give up his life for his children, even his least favorite child, Courtney. :)

Speaking of putting your life on the line, he has put his life on the line for our country more than once. That alone is enough for a blog post, a plague, even a monument. And not just my father, but anyone who has ever served in the military deserves it. The amount of dedication and determination most United States Military soldiers have far surpasses most in our world.

Thank you Dad for not only being the best father someone could ask for, but thank you for serving our country everyday to allow us to live the lives that we chose.
