Your Time Is Up!
Could you imagine hearing that? Someone shouting,
“You’re time is up! Your life on Earth is now complete.”
Crazy to grasp isn’t it? What’s even crazier is no one knows when their time will be up… Your reading this blog could possibly be the last thing you read. The mouse you’re scrolling with could be the last thing you ever touch and you won’t even know it until it happens. People really have no idea what they have until it’s gone. In the blink of an eye, everything could change.
Last night, after a softball game was coaching was over, I looked down at my phone to see 5 missed calls from my mom and a text message that said, “Call me ASAP” No period, no please. Just a straight command. When my mom texts me, it’s a shock all in of itself, but that message… not something you want to read. All I could do in this situation was take the command. As the phone is ringing, my mind is going in a million and one directions. Christopher has some serious allergies, so waiting for the phone to ring that’s all I could think about was my little brother. That little guy can put a smile on Fidel Castro’s face…
But when my mom answers, all she says is, “Bill, ….” then she starting to cry. So then my mind recognizes that Christopher is okay, but immediately shifted to my stepdad Bill. Bill is 63 years old… that’s nothing to gander at these days, but he is a healthy guy and most people don’t even know he is that old until someone tells them. I immediately left the ball field and go straight to the hospital to make sure Bill was okay. Once I get there, everything was under control and he was talking. Nice big relief. But after I left the hospital that night, I thought to myself… What if something more serious happened to Bill? I would be wrecked.
Bill has done more for me as a stepfather than some fathers do for their kids. All other things aside, he is the sole reason I ever stepped foot in a Bible preaching church. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be anything like I am today. With that thought, I began to think about the people I’ve had the opportunity to talk to about Jesus. There have been quite a few. And I am proud to say I have done that, but then I thought about all the opportunities I had that I passed up… If the opportunity was there, why didn’t I take it? There is nothing I can do now, I cant reverse into time to fix it, but I can take every opportunity starting now.
After all, you never know when
Your Time Is Up!
